Jaipur, 20 July 2025: Jaipur is set to host the 1st Yuva Sustainability Conference 2025 on 21 July 2025, under the theme ‘Sustainability Storytelling for Green India: A Movement to Empower Youth.’ Organised by Voices of Bharat: Yuva for Sustainability, this pioneering event aims to spark a nationwide movement for environmental awareness and climate action, with youth at its heart.
The conference will be inaugurated by Shri Sanjay Sharma, State Minister (Independent Charge), Forest, Environment & Climate Change, and Science & Technology, Rajasthan. Dr Manju Baghmar, Minister for Women & Child Development & Child Empowerment, will deliver the Special Address. At the same time, Shri Rajendra Singh, renowned as the Waterman of India, will present the Keynote Address.
The event has received the support and encouragement of Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, who launched the Voices of Bharat: Yuva for Sustainability initiative on World Environment Day, 5 June 2025. Speaking at the launch, he remarked: “I am pleased to launch Voices of Bharat: Yuva for Sustainability, a nationwide initiative to build the capacity of students to use storytelling to sensitise the masses and inspire environmental action.”
Sustainability Karma is organising the conference with Lok Samvad Sansthan as the implementation partner and in association with Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, University of Rajasthan.
In the run-up to the upcoming conference, Shri Sanjay Sharma, while launching the official newsletter of the conference, stressed: “Together, let’s empower young changemakers and build a greener India.”
Dr Manju Baghmar, who unveiled the official conference poster earlier, emphasised the importance of intergenerational learning and traditional knowledge, stating: “Our grandparents are living libraries of wisdom and values. Their simple yet profound stories — rooted in village life and nature’s rhythms — hold the key to reconnecting youth with environmental consciousness.”
Shri Rajendra Singh, globally acclaimed for his pioneering work in water conservation and recipient of the Magsaysay Award and Stockholm Water Prize, will inspire students and youth leaders through his keynote address. His life’s work exemplifies grassroots-driven sustainable resource management and climate resilience.
According to Rajiv Tikoo, Convenor of Voices of Bharat: Yuva for Sustainability and Consulting Editor of Sustainability Karma, the initiative aims to train youth as storytellers who can influence public attitudes and inspire climate action. Kalyan Singh Kothari, Co-Convenor and Secretary of Lok Samvad Sansthan, added that sensitising millions of young people to sustainability is vital for India’s green future.
Dr Seema Agrawal, Principal of Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, said:“Our college was established to equip students with both academic and practical skills. Through this conference, we hope to nurture Sustainability Champions who can lead change.”
